Kevin was born and raised in Miami, Florida. He attended Rice University for his undergraduate studies, where he became captivated by organic chemistry and interested in using chemical synthesis to probe biological systems. There, he investigated the supramolecular structure of collagen in the Hartgerink Lab and earned a B.S. in Chemistry in 2020. He then pursued his Ph.D. in Chemistry in the laboratory of Prof. Brian Stoltz at the California Institute of Technology, where his dissertation research focused on the total synthesis of complex bioactive natural products. In particular, he completed the first total synthesis of the bisindole alkaloid strempeliopidine using a non-directed Petasis reaction, while also contributing to several additional synthetic and methodological studies. After earning his Ph.D. in 2025, Kevin moved to the Bay Area, where he is currently an NIH F32 postdoctoral fellow in the Bertozzi Lab at Stanford. His research interests lie at the intersection of glycobiology, immunology, and organic synthesis. Outside of the lab, he enjoys video games, tabletop games, and climbing mountains.
