Jonathan grew up in sunny Los Angeles and went to college at UC Berkeley. In his sophomore year he joined Chris Chang’s lab to work on activity based sensing. Inspired after learning cross-coupling reactions in organic chemistry, he then join the lab of John Hartwig and worked on discovering and optimizing transition metal catalyzed C—F bond activation reactions for applications in pharmaceutical discovery and synthesis. After 4 years of going to Cal football games, Jonathan decided to go the dark side and attend Stanford for his PhD in Chemistry. Jonathan is co-advised by Carolyn Bertozzi and Alice Ting and is interested in protein degradation and other therapeutic modalities. In his free time he likes to go on hikes, cook, ride his bike, and watch movies.
