Shiv is an MD/PhD student who is interested in leveraging the power of protein-DNA conjugates towards problems in human health. He grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and went to college in Princeton. As an undergraduate in the lab of Tom Muir, he helped develop a novel method to chemically modify histones within live cells. He then worked as a Scientific Associate at D. E. Shaw Research in New York City, where he used long timescale molecular dynamics simulations to better understand the conformational ensemble of the amyloid beta monomer. Since starting medical school at Stanford, he has become particularly interested in developing new technologies to improve human diagnostics. Shiv enjoys photography, gardening, and talking about his pets.
