Aswini is a medical student interested in exploring the molecular underpinnings of life and disease processes. In the Bertozzi lab, she is studying the functions of the lysosome using chemistry-based approaches, co-mentored with Prof. Monther Abu-Remaileh. Previously, Aswini completed her B.S. in Bioengineering at UC San Diego, where she worked in the lab of Prof. Weg Ongkeko to study the roles of non-coding RNAs in cancer. Subsequently, as a Churchill Scholar, she received an MPhil in the lab of Prof. Venki Ramakrishnan at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, England, where she investigated protein translation mechanisms. Casually, Aswini enjoys singing, drawing, and cycling.
